Get to Know Stephen Crispin

I have been a specialist family law barrister for more than 10 years. I am based at Harcourt Chambers and I have always focused exclusively on family court work.

Before coming to Harcourt Chambers I studied law at Oxford University, and went on to complete my professional training at the Inns of Court School of Law.  I am a member of Lincoln's Inn.

I have a busy practice in cases about the welfare of children. I often represent clients at contested hearings where the questioning of witnesses is a key part of achieving a successful outcome.

In family finance cases my expertise extends to complex matters including third party interests, company assets, or possible bankruptcy. I am known for working hard to achieve the best possible result for clients in negotiations, and in court through focused and determined advocacy.

I am often asked to give advice on property rights where an unmarried couple is separating. Many of these cases follow civil court procedure instead of the Family Procedure Rules. I can give advice on how to run your case and draft the necessary documents.

I understand that court proceedings concerning your family can be highly stressful. Most people are hoping for a sensible resolution to their dispute with the minimum of delay and cost. I will be honest with you about your case and help you explore whether there are options for achieving your aims in the case without the need for contested court hearings.

When I am not working I love cycling and I often take part in track races at Herne Hill Velodrome.  I escape to the mountains whenever I can.
